The legend of Iara speaks of a guardian spirit who rules the waters of the Amazon, giving birth to new life through rivers, lakes, and streams, and nurturing the forest and its creatures. She embodies both creation and destruction, symbolizing the eternal cycles of nature, rebirth, and transformation. Just as the flow of water sustains all life while maintaining balance in the natural world, I, too, feel a calling to guide my clients through the unknown, helping them achieve balance and create the birth experience they desire during this sacred and transformative moment.
Whether you're preparing for birth, seeking emotional support, or simply want to feel empowered throughout this life-changing journey, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s connect and make your dream birth a reality.
About me
I'm a doula who believes home birth is safe, effective, and revolutionary. I believe choosing a cesarean for mental health reasons is valid and righteous. I believe that having a free birth, without ultrasounds, is your birthright. I believe not everyone needs a doula. I believe every person is on a unique spiritual journey during birth, and I'm either there to meet them where they are or I'm not. No one I’ve worked with has the same history, the same story, or the same desires. I trust women to lead their births as they lead their lives. There is no right or wrong—there is only you. In the end, I am simply a doula who witnesses the magic of life unfolding.
To be a Doula
Doula work is not just a profession; it is a way of life. It is activism at its highest degree. It has brought me through profound grief, acceptance, and love. It is walking this path with other women, as it has been done since the beginning of time. It is honoring the sacredness of birth. It is an opportunity for great heartbreak, an unraveling, and a reevaluation of self. It is cesareans and home births, ultrasounds and free births. It is miscarriage, bottle-feeding, breastfeeding, and mental health. It is the intersection of all things human.
To new parents seeking guidance, or to veteran mothers in need of support… welcome to this wild adventure. Here’s to our journey together—of healing, sisterhood, and the shared experience of being women, mothers, and friends.

Testimonials
"Fabiana was so caring, supportive, and encouraging; her energy was calming. I don't know what I would have done without her by my side. From hip squeezes to the adversity I faced during labor, Fabiana stayed calm and positive. She provided me with information that helped me feel confident in making the right decisions for me and my family. You can tell that this is more than just a job for her—it's her calling. As a first-time mom, I felt empowered throughout my labor and delivery journey. I would recommend her to everyone."

“After a difficult labor & delivery with my first, I wanted to prioritize my mental & physical preparedness for my second birthing experience. Fabi carefully held space for me to connect with my body, move in ways that felt authentic to my needs & to feel empowered in my capabilities to manage discomfort. My delivery experience with her was magical, & I felt supported every step of the way."
-Frances R
"Fabi and I met at a mutual friend's event, and we instantly clicked—it was the Pisces energy, Pisces vibes! I knew right away that I was going to be friends with her. I felt a connection and knew she was meant to be in my life. As I got to know Fabi, I learned she was a doula, and it felt so fitting for her, since she is such a supportive and gentle soul. I knew that once I got pregnant, I would need her by my side.
One of my biggest fears in life was going through labor.
Before having my son, Julian, I was fearful because I felt like I didn’t know enough about labor and, honestly, had some self-doubt. Fabi took action and spoke with my husband and me months before labor about our plan and our rights as parents/patients. She filled us with knowledge and strength, and we felt more prepared than ever!
During labor, Fabi:
Brought the calmest, most caring vibes
Was knowledgeable about EVERYTHING!
Was friendly with the nurses and doctors
Advocated for me like a true mama bear
Gave me strength
Cheered me on when I needed it the most
I would recommend a doula to any woman I talk to—but especially Fabi!
I don’t think I could have done this without her soul in the room!"

Frequently asked questions

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals before, during, and after childbirth. The term "doula" comes from the Greek word meaning "woman's servant," but today, it refers to someone who assists the birthing person and their family throughout the childbirth experience.
There are two primary types of doulas:
Birth Doula: This type of doula supports the birthing person during labor and delivery. They offer comfort measures (like breathing techniques, massage, and position suggestions), emotional support, and help the birthing person and their partner communicate with medical staff. They do not perform medical procedures but provide non-medical care to help make the experience smoother and more positive.
Postpartum Doula: After the baby is born, a postpartum doula helps with the transition to parenthood by providing emotional support, assisting with newborn care (like feeding and diapering), helping with light household tasks, and offering guidance on infant care and postpartum recovery.
Some doulas also provide fertility or prenatal support for families who are preparing for conception or pregnancy.
The overall goal of a doula is to provide a continuous, nonjudgmental presence, helping people feel empowered, informed, and supported throughout the childbirth process.

A birth doula provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during labor. Their role includes:
Emotional Support: Offering reassurance, encouragement, and a calming presence to the birthing person and their partner.
Physical Support: Suggesting positions, providing massage, helping with breathing techniques, and offering comfort measures like counter-pressure or hot/cold packs to ease pain.
Advocacy & Communication: Helping the birthing person communicate their wishes to the medical team, making sure they understand their options, and supporting informed decision-making.
Non-medical Care: Doulas do not perform medical tasks (like checking vitals or doing cervical exams), but they complement the care given by the medical staff.
-
While both are supportive figures in childbirth, their roles are distinct:
Midwife: A medical professional who provides clinical care during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Midwives are trained to monitor the health of both the birthing person and baby, perform medical tasks (like checking dilation, administering medications, and delivering the baby), and handle complications.
Birth Doula: A non-medical support person who offers emotional, physical, and informational support during labor but does not provide clinical care. Doulas are there to support the birthing person, but they don't intervene medically.
-
Yes, a birth doula can work alongside your doctor or midwife. Their role is complementary, not overlapping. While your medical provider focuses on the clinical aspects of your birth, your doula focuses on providing emotional and physical support to help you feel comfortable, confident, and informed throughout the process. Many people find that having both a doula and a medical professional improves their birth experience.
-
Hiring a doula is a personal decision, but here are a few factors to consider:
Desire for Support: If you feel that you would benefit from having someone focused on your emotional well-being during labor or want more personalized, continuous support, a doula can be a great choice.
Birth Preferences: Doulas can help you articulate and advocate for your birth preferences, whether you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, or birth center.
Comfort and Trust: Many people feel more comfortable with a doula because they provide nonjudgmental, supportive care. If you're considering a doula, it's important to meet with potential doulas and see if their style aligns with your needs and values.
Ultimately, a doula can help you feel empowered and supported during your birth, no matter the setting or circumstances.
